CLINIC HOURS Consultations are by prior appointment at the hospital at Shedfield and most of our clinics. Appointments can be made directly with the relevant clinic, alternatively you can make an appointment for any clinic by phoning the Shedfield Hosptial. Opening times of branch surgeries can be obtained by telephone or from one of our information cards. We will arrange for you to see the veterinary surgeon of your choice whenever possible. We aim to provide a rapid response to emergencies and ensure minimum waiting time for patients and owners.
EMERGENCIES Please phone the hospital on (01329) 833112 and arrangements will be made to see your pet immediately.
HOSPITALISATION Patients may be hospitalised under the 24 hour care of our veterinary nurses. This is usually only necessary after major surgery or for acutely ill medical cases requiring intensive care. Practice staff are resident on the premises.
REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS Repeat prescriptions for animals on long term medication may be obtained. To enable us to have the drugs ready for your collection we ask that 48 hours notice be given whenever possible.
Facilities & Standards
small animal registration
The Animed base at Shedfield has the distinction of being a registered Veterinary Hospital.
- We are continually developing the hospital as a centre of excellence.
- Better diagnosis and treatment with the use of advanced equipment.
- Improved patient care due to constant monitoring of patients whilst at the hospital.
- A wider total range of veterinary experience due to special interests of some of the veterinary surgeons.
FEES Our fees are kept to the lowest level commensurate with the standards of care and service which the practice provides. Pet insurance is an economical and easy way to meet our fees, our receptionists will be pleased to advise you on this matter. Naturally the practice charges are higher out of hours, during the night, and on Saturdays (after 1pm), Sundays and public holidays. This reflects the considerably higher cost of providing a service at these times. Clients are normally expected to pay at the time for small animal treatment. We accept Debit and Credit cards as well as Cash . We are always pleased to provide an estimate of the cost prior to treatment.
STAFF The Animed Veterinary Group has 15 veterinary surgeons, supported by qualified nurses, receptionists and administration staff. Trained receptionists are available to help you at our branch surgeries during opening hours.
TEACHING The hospital is a registered Veterinary Nursing Training Centre.
LABORATORY The practice has its own laboratory to assist in rapid diagnosis if your pet becomes ill. Laboratory fees are additional to treatment costs and are difficult to estimate accurately. Tests do not guarantee but usually greatly assist in reaching a diagnosis.
HOUSE VISITS Please telephone early in the day to enable us to co-ordinate our veterinary surgeons' visits so that we can provide the best service possible. It is usually better for our vet to examine and treat smaller animals at the clinics or hospital, so that your animal does not feel that their home territory is being invaded, where diagnostic equipment, medication and trained personnel are readily available. It is always less expensive to arrange transport than to call a vet out and generally your pet will be seen and treated more quickly.
EUTHANASIA Euthanasia of pets is carried out after consultation with one of our veterinary staff. All animals are cremated after death unless you wish to carry out your own burial. Private cremations can be arranged.
