RCVS Accredited Practice & Registered Veterinary Hospital
We care for dogs, cats and a variety of small pets at our spacious purpose built small animal hospital practice. Our fully equipped purpose built equine unit, adjacent to the hospital, caters for all the needs of horses and ponies.
Animed is the only registered veterinary hospital practice in the Fareham area. The Hospital is open, by appointment, 24hrs a day 365 days of the year for our registered clients.
We cover the south Hampshire area from Romsey across to Chichester. Surgical, hospital facilities and out of hours cover for pet animals are centralised at Shedfield Veterinary Hospital so as to maximise the breadth and depth of care we can provide for our clients and their pets.
Being a Registered RCVS Tier 3 Small Animal Veterinary Hospital all in-patients receive 24 hour nursing support and care from our on-site nurses. There is a purpose built Equine diagnostic and hospitalisation unit built into the south of the Hospital.
The Practice was taken over by David Langrish in 1983 and renamed Animed. David was joined in Partnership by Tom Chamberlain, Caroline Coombs, Max Tuck and Robin Peal. A new purpose built Small Animal Hospital and Equine unit was designed and completed at Shedfield in 2003 for around £1.6 million and the Practice headquarters moved from Wickham to Shedfield.
Tom Chamberlain left the Practice in March 2008 to join the Westpoint Practice, allowing us to concentrate on Small Animal and Equine work. All the farm work has been transferred to Westpoint.
Animed Veterinary Group was acquired by CVS (UK) Limited in 2008 and now operates as part of this larger group of veterinary practices and veterinary service providers.
David Langrish remains as clinical director and head of the equine department and Caroline Coombs, Max Tuck and Robin Peal will continue to head up the small animal department as before.
There is a network of five Animed Branch Clinics at Portsmouth, Cowplain, Gosport, Locksheath and Hedge End providing local care in the South Hampshire area. Trained receptionists are available to help you at our branch clinics during their opening hours. We are a team of 14 veterinary surgeons supported by 12 nurses, 18 receptionists and 7 administration staff dedicated to pet health and care, equine practice and to attaining and maintaining the highest possible standards.
There is a separate team of four veterinary surgeons for equine work. The ten small animal vets deal only with pets so as to maximize their expertise in these fields.
Animed Veterinary Hospital is a registered Veterinary Nurse Training Centre.
